Trudeau Mourns Death of Quebec’s Acting Legend Michel Côté!

Death is an inevitable occurrence in every life form. The sorrow of separation is also an inevitable part of death. To worsen the situation,  news of the death of our beloved celebrity also puts us in pain.

Moreover,  2023 has so far witnessed numerous deaths of celebrities. In addition to the list is Quebec’s most talented actor of all time- Michel Cote. Twitter has flooded with condolences from his fans.

Prime Minister Trudeau also tweeted his condolences and support to the deceased’s family and called Michel Cote one of the best actors from Quebec; he stated that the demise of Michel Cote is a significant loss to the country and Quebecois culture.

The tweet reads,

Without question, Michel Côté was one of Quebec’s most revered – and most talented – actors. His passing is an extraordinary loss for Quebecois culture and our entire country. My condolences to his family, friends, and many fans.

The Canadian actress and director Anna Hopkins remembered working with Michel Cote. She tweeted,

I had the privilege of working with legend Michel Côté once, and I’ve never laughed more in my life. His sense of humor was unmatched, his talent colossal, his warmth and generosity so genuine. It’s hard to believe a person like that could ever leave this place. 💔 #MichelCôté”

Radio India

The largest radio station in Vancouver also paid tribute to the legendary comic. Actor. The tweet from Radio India read,

Actor #MichelCôté, who captivated #audiences with his #roles in the theatre #pieceBroue & films such as #CruisingBar & C.R.A.Z.Y. has #died at 72. He was undergoing #treatment for a bone #marrowdisease. He received a lifetime #achievementaward in 2013.”

Michel Côté was one of the most beloved actors from Quebec, Canada. His rise to fame was due to his outstanding performance in C.R.A.Z.Y. and Cruising Bar.

Personal Life

Michel Cote was born in Alma, Canada, in 1950, and at a young age, he never intended to choose acting as a career. However,  he started his career in acting sooner in theatres. Sooner, with his initial few movies, he rose to fame.

He was married to Véronique Le Flaguais in 1972. The couple were blessed with two children, Charles Cote and Maxime Flaguais. Véronique Le Flaguais is also a famous Canadian Actress who has been decorated with numerous awards.

Their son Maxime Flaguasis is also a Television actor. Charles Cote is a co-founder of MU Architecture. 

Awards

Michel Cote was a decorated actor nominated for the Genie Award for his movie The Cruising Bar. In 2005, he was awarded a Genie for his lead role in C.R.A.Z.Y.

He continues to bag awards with his sequel to Cruising Bar 2. He won the Jutra Award for Best Actor and was awarded the same during the 11th edition of the awards in 2008.

Amongst the most acclaimed movies, Michel Cote’s De Pere en Flic marked a whopping $11 million at the Quebec box office. The Canadian government also appointed him an officer in the Order of Canada.
