Strengthening Ties With Poland: Defence Ministers Set to Meet!

Canada is strengthening its international ties. The nation is set to host Mariusz Błaszczak, Minister of National Defence. Read on to know who Mariusz Blaszczak is and his tentative schedule.

Both ministers of the National Defence shall be meeting on 08 May 2023 and Anita Anand, Minister of National Defence of Canada expressed her excitement over the meeting. She tweets,

Schedule of Events

Anita Anand, the minister for national defense of Canada also shared the planned itinerary for the meeting.

1. Welcome Ceremony

Anita Anand will be welcoming her counterpart from Poland in the National Defence Headquarters, 101 Colonel By Drive, Ottawa at 09:00 a. m.

The minister will be presented with a guard and welcomed as per the protocols.

2. Joint Press Brief

The Joint press brief by both Ministers of National Defence will conduct a media brief and the press brief is scheduled at 10:45 a.m. at National Defence Headquarters, 101 Colonel By Drive, Ottawa.

Both ministers have agreed upon answering questions from the press. All media personnel are requested to present in the venue by 10:15 a.m.

3. Wreath Laying

Post press brief, ministers Anita Anand and Blaszczak will be laying wreaths at the National War Memorial, Ottawa.

The wreath-laying will commemorate the victory during World War II and remember the fallen.

4. Discussions

Both ministers will be discussing numerous issues during the meeting.

The issues of the Ukraine-Russia war will be the focus area. In addition, discussions on increasing military engagement between the nations, International trade, and climate change are also envisaged.

Mariusz Błaszczak

Mariusz Błaszczak is a Polish Politician and was elected as the Minister of National Defence in Jan 2019.

In addition to being a politician, he is also a historian and local government rep.

His contribution to the Defence of Poland has been immense.

The nomination of Mariusz to the post of Deputy PM is testimony to his dedication and hard work.

 

Błaszczak was born on 19 September 1969. He holds a degree in History from the Warsaw University. He is an alumnus of the National School of Public Administration and holds a master’s in Local Government and Development.

Canada-Poland Relationship

Canada and Poland have a strong bilateral bond. Both nations celebrated 80 years of their friendship recently.

This celebration was amidst the Ukrainian Russian War. This marked the strong bond between the European nation and Canada.

Canada and Poland complement each other concerning national interests.

Poland’s interest in the Pacifics and the opportunity to interact with the US due to the strong US-Canada relationship make it important for Poland to maintain a good relationship with Canada.

In return, Canada gets an opportunity to extend its footfall into Eastern Europe.

Both nations are part of NATO and the UN and maintain strong military bonds whilst operating together.

The meeting between the Ministers shall boost Canada’s attempts to become a world leader.
