Saskatoon happens to be the largest town in Saskatchewan, Canada. In addition to the many tourist sights it has to offer, it has many churches too. If you plan to visit any of these churches in Saskatoon, they are bound to leave you amazed.

1. Well-known Churches in Saskatoon

    The moment you step inside any of these churches, a sense of divinity will prevails inside you. In addition to offering peace, every single one of them is a beautiful monument exhibiting a distinct architectural expression.

    1.1. St. John’s Anglican Cathedral

    St. John’s Cathedral is a century-old church in Saskatoon. It is a divine church located on the edge of the South Saskatchewan River. It is a Christ-centred community, aimed at guiding people to the path of God.

    The St. John’s Cathedral possesses illustrious architecture. It exhibits Gothic Revival Architecture, thereby holding a great heritage value. The stained glass triad, vaulted ceilings, and inscribed pillars add to the glory of this historical landmark.

    The St. John’s Cathedral stays open for worship on Sunday – 8:00 am and 10:30 am. The list of upcoming events is updated on their website, regularly.

    1.2. St. Paul’s Co-Cathedral

    St. Paul’s Co-Cathedral was the first church to be built in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, in 1910. It is a beautiful church welcoming people from all communities. The parish believes in spreading the teachings of Jesus Christ.

    At first, it was a parish church. Later, in 1921 it was established as a pro-cathedral. Currently, it is the mother church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon.

    As for the monument, the famous stained glass windows enhances the beauty of this church. They were added to remember the souls of the departed in World War II and the fire, in 1945 and 1976, respectively.

    St. Paul’s Co-Cathedral also has a choir group. The mass gathers on Sunday at 8:00 am and 10:00 am. In the evening, mass takes place at 08:00 pm. Whereas on weekdays, the timings are 12:10 pm. Information about upcoming events can be obtained from the website.

    1.3. The Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of St. George

    The Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral Parish of St. George is another famous church in Saskatoon. If you are on a path of spiritual awakening, you must visit this church. Besides, students, political leaders, and clergy from Roman and Ukrainian Churches, frequently visit this church.

    The cathedral displays mesmerizing architecture consisting of a large octagonal dome. It is beautifully decorated with two arched windows prevailing radiance in the building.

    1.4. Cathedral of the Holy Family

    The Cathedral of the Holy Family is a Roman Catholic Church. The building serves multiple purposes as it has banquet halls, offices, storage spaces, and more.

    The supreme mission of the parish is to make people aware of their calling. The Church encourages everyone to join the Holy Family of Jesus Christ. It celebrates the life, death, and milestones of the members involved too.

    The mass timings for Sunday are 9:00 am, 11:00 am, and 6:00 pm, whereas it is 12:15 pm for weekdays. However, the church is closed for mass gatherings on Wednesdays in July and August.       Saskatoon Victory Church is a non-denominational church in Saskatoon. The Church welcomes everyone to join, irrespective of their denomination, such as Baptists, Catholics, etc. It accepts people for who they are. The primary belief and aim of the pastors is to connect people with Jesus Christ and, to march on His path.

      2.2. Grace Fellowship Church

      Grace Fellowship Church is a family of Churches with one of their gatherings being held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The gatherings are held at The Scotiabank Theatre on Sunday mornings, at 10:00 a.m. The mission of this church is to bring together people from diverse backgrounds.

      2.3. Elim Church

      Elim Church is another church community in Saskatoon. At the Elm Church Service, they aim at bringing together people on a journey guided by Jesus Christ.  They encourage embracing people for who they are and walking together on a spiritual journey.       Although there is an Elm Chapel in Saskatoon, you can join the services online too. The service at the Chapel takes place on Sundays at 09:00 am. Whereas, the online services are live at 06:30 am on Saturdays, and 09:00  am and 10:15 am on Sundays.
