Al Hamilton Scholarship
The scholarship is instituted in honor of one of the greatest ice hockey players of all time -Allan Guy Hamilton.
Born on 20 Aug 1946, he was an outstanding ice hockey defence man. He was a noteworthy defence man for Edmonton Oilers. He had represented the Oilers in National Hockey League.
1. Scholarship
The Al Hamilton scholarship is granted to Northern Albertian children who have stood out in various aspects of life such as academics, sports, and Community service.
The scholarship is awarded every year to two students who will be entering post-secondary education and is granted for four years which will cover the school years.
The total worth of the scholarship is $8000( $2000 per year).
2. Eligibility
Only students belonging to Northern Alberta are only eligible for the award of the Al Hamilton Scholarship.
He/ She must be entering/ applying for post-secondary education in an accredited school/ college or entering into a technical institution.
The selection of the student will be based on the merits obtained from the performance in the field of academics, competitive level in sports including athletics, and ability to showcase leadership quality and social involvement for the betterment of society.
You should have a minimum of 75 % marks in your cumulative high school grading to be eligible for applying for the scholarship.
3. Application
The application for the Al Hamilton scholar is open from 05 May 23 and will be considered till 11 June 23.
You can apply for the Al Hamilton Scholarship by sending a short article of around 500 words on why you should be granted the Al Hamilton Scholarship.
You will also be required to have a minimum of 2 recommendation letters highlighting your achievements in sports and community services. It will benefit you if you can forward a personal letter of reference.
You can fill in the application online through the website of Edmonton Oilers. So keep your recommendation letters ready.

Looking into the recent match of Edmonton Oilers, the team lost to Vegas Golder Knights on Thursday 6-4 in game 1 of the Western Conference second round.
Despite valiant efforts by Leon Draisaitl with his four goals, the Oilers feel short by 2 goals.
